Movistar Plus+ has once again been recognised at CANNESERIES thanks to one of its original productions. 'I Always Sometimes', created by Marta Bassols and Marta Loza, has been awarded Best Screenplay, written by the creators alongside Almudena Monzú.
'I Always Sometimes' with all the episodes available on the platform, is a Movistar Plus+ original series produced in collaboration with Suma Content, starring Ana Boga and David Menéndez. The cast also includes Paco Tous, Belén Ponce de León, Marta Bassols, María de Medeiros and Diane Guerrero.
Synopsis
Laura (Ana Boga) became pregnant a week after meeting Rubén (David Menéndez), deeply blinded by love—and drugs. Six months after their son Mario was born, they were already separating, and not on good terms. An official record at the civil registry states that they are a family; however, Laura raises the child almost entirely on her own. She does so with immense love, faith, spark and joy, even though she sometimes lacks the ideas or tools to take care of herself.
Double presence for Movistar Plus+ at CANNESERIES

Movistar Plus+ original series 'I Always Sometimes' and 'Many People Need To Die' have both competed in the Official Competition at CANNESERIES, where they received an outstanding response from both audiences and industry professionals. Their selection in the Official Long Form Competition—among only eight titles from around the world—reinforces the international positioning of Movistar Plus+ original fiction and marks a milestone for Spanish production.
The festival has also served as an international showcase for both series. In the case of 'Many People Need To Die', its presentation in Cannes precedes its premiere on the platform on May 21. The series is a Movistar Plus+ original production in collaboration with Corte y Confección de películas and Living Producciones. It is created by Victoria Martín, who also directs alongside Sandra Romero and Nacho Pardo, and stars Anna Castillo, Macarena García and Laura Weissmahr, together with the young Sofía Otero. Alba Galocha, Óscar de la Fuente, Ramón Rados and Yunez Chaib complete the cast.

This double presence in the Official Competition in the same edition further consolidates Movistar Plus+’s track record at CANNESERIES, where it has already achieved major recognition in recent years: 'Perfect Life', by Leticia Dolera, won Best Series and the Special Performance Award; 'The Left-Handed Son', by Rafael Cobos, was named Best Miniseries in the Short Form section in 2023; and 'El Inmortal' was also part of the Official Competition.
