MUBI, the global film distributor, streaming service and production company, announces the multi-award-winning, 'La Mesías' -a Movistar Plus Original series in collaboration with Suma Content- from Javier Ambrossi and Javier Calvo, the Cannes Best Director-winning duo behind 'La Bola Negra' - will stream exclusively on MUBI (excluding Italy, Spain, LATAM & North America), from 3 September 2026. The deal was closed with Movistar Plus International.
Launching with a 2 episode premiere, the seven-part Spanish was selected for Sundance and San Sebastián film festivals, stars Lola Dueñas (Almodóvar's 'Volver', Cannes Best Actress) alongside Macarena García, Carmen Machi, and Cecilia Roth (Almodóvar's 'Pain and Glory').
